Magnetic Surveys
At West Coast Placer, we offer magnetic survey services that use proven geophysical technology to enhance mineral exploration in British Columbia and the Yukon.
Our system is highly effective for mapping subsurface geology and identifying mineral-rich zones, offering unparalleled precision and reliability. This technology has been a cornerstone of successful exploration projects, providing a cost-effective and dependable method to help clients focus their efforts on areas with the highest potential for success.
Magnetic surveys are one of the best ways to gain a comprehensive overview of your claim and its potential. Modern magnetometers offer a proven, cost-effective solution for identifying subsurface geological structures and mineralized zones. This method is particularly effective for the types of deposits commonly found in British Columbia and the Yukon, such as porphyry systems, VMS deposits, epithermal gold, skarn deposits, and critical and rare earth minerals. Our team has extensive experience in exploring and analyzing these valuable resources.
Our advanced magnetic survey system is a game-changer for mineral exploration. By measuring subtle variations in the Earth’s magnetic field, we can map geological structures and identify mineralized zones without the need for invasive techniques or costly drilling at the early stages.
Beyond identifying targets, our magnetic surveys provide critical data on subsurface features to optimize your mining strategy and maximize returns.
Targeted exploration saves you time and money, ensuring your efforts are focused where they will yield the best results.
Magnetometer surveys are a highly cost-effective and low-impact method for early-stage mineral exploration, providing detailed subsurface data while preserving your budget and minimizing environmental disturbance. This technology excels in diverse and challenging terrains, ensuring consistent and reliable results in even the most remote locations.
By identifying high-potential zones and mapping geological structures, magnetics allow you to strategically prioritize targets before committing to more expensive exploration methods like drilling. This approach helps reduce financial risk while optimizing the allocation of exploration resources.
With the ability to conduct thorough assessments at a fraction of the cost, our magnetometer survey system is an essential tool for preparing exploration programs and maximizing the efficiency of your operations.
Our magnetic surveys start with deploying high-sensitivity magnetic sensors along carefully planned survey lines. These sensors measure subtle variations in the Earth’s magnetic field, capturing high-resolution data about subsurface geological features. To ensure minimal environmental impact, our process is entirely non-invasive, avoiding disruptive methods like line-cutting. Our system is designed to perform effectively in challenging terrains, such as rugged landscapes or waterlogged areas, making it ideal for diverse exploration environments
To account for natural fluctuations in the Earth’s magnetic field—known as diurnal variations—we use a stationary magnetic base station. This station continuously measures the background magnetic field during the survey period. By comparing the base station readings with the data collected from the field, we can correct for these daily variations, ensuring that the final results reflect only the true magnetic properties of the subsurface geology.
The collected data is processed using advanced geophysical software to produce precise, noise-free results. This includes diurnal corrections, noise filtering, and integration with other geospatial datasets. The result is a set of detailed maps, cross-sections, and 3D models that reveal key subsurface features such as geological structures, mineralized zones, and fault lines.
We deliver our findings in a comprehensive report tailored to your project. This includes detailed 2D and 3D maps, GIS-compatible data, and interpretive insights from our experienced geophysicists. The report provides actionable information to guide your exploration strategy, helping you focus on the most promising areas of your claim.
