Less sophisticated miner letter

Dear Minister [Minister’s Last Name],

Hi, I’m [Your Name], and I’m a miner in B.C. I’m not great at writing fancy letters, but I gotta say something about this moratorium thing on placer mining.

Placer mining is what puts food on my family’s table. It’s hard work, but it’s the only thing I know. I don’t got fancy words, but I got a heart for the land.

I know some folks say placer mining messes up the Earth, but not all of us do that. I follow the rules, and I try to leave the land better than I found it. I know others who do the same.

If they put a stop to placer mining, I don’t know how I’m gonna provide for my family. It’s scary to think about losing my job.

I just wanna ask, please don’t take away our jobs and our way of life. We can figure out how to mine and protect the land at the same time. We’re not all bad, and we care ’bout the Earth too.

Thanks for listening, Minister [Minister’s Last Name].

Sincerely,

[Your Name]
